Restorative Practice Course
Restorative Practice (RP) is a dynamic, effective conflict intervention tool, which can be used in all levels of conflict in order to find a lasting solution. Restorative Practice (RP) aims to bring together those harmed by crime OR conflict and those who caused the harm in order listen to each other, and find a positive way forward.
“Let the tongue mend what the hand has harmed” (RP Student definition)
Success is achieved by means of a trained Facilitator spending time with all who have a genuine concern in the issue, then bringing both the harmed and the harmer together into a structured Restorative Conference in order discuss the conflict, listen to each others stories, and agree on solutions. It is no exaggeration to say that this intervention changes lives.
We provide a two day training course, at the end of which students will be trained Restorative Facilitators. The course features: Origins of Restorative Justice, presentations, group discussion, questioning skills, models of preparation, risk assessment, formal conference facilitation, aftercare, case studies and workplace application. This will enable students to facilitate Restorative Conferences in their own organisations, in order to address new or long standing matters of conflict. Suitable for classes of up to 16 students.
We have experience of training Facilitators in a huge variety of sectors, such as:
- Policing
- Education
- Housing
- Business
- Youth Work
- Anti-social behaviour teams
- Human Resources
- Councils
- Private cases
- Restorative Practice is effective in all of these areas
